Stony Brook University’s own Wolfie — the two-time SUNY Mascot Madness champion — will be looking for a third title when the 2026 tournament begins on March 10.
Mascot Madness, modeled after the annual NCAA March Madness basketball tournament, began in 2013, and is the annual competition that brings SUNY mascots together in a competition to find out who the fans feel is the best in all of New York.
Wolfie kicks off the 13th annual tournament in Round 1 with a three-way battle against Bronco of SUNY Delhi and OWWIN of SUNY Old Westbury. Voting begins at noon Tuesday, March 10 and continues until 3 pm Thursday, March 12.
Mascot Madness will continue as follows:
Round 2: Monday, March 16 (12 pm) – Wednesday, March 18 (3 pm)
Round 3: Friday, March 20 (12 pm) – Monday, March 23 (3 pm)
Semifinals/Final Four: Wednesday, March 25 (12 pm) – Friday, March 27 (3 pm)
Finals: Tuesday, March 31 (12 pm) – Thursday, April 2 (3 pm)
Wolfie won the tournament in 2022 and 2023, defeating Oakie the Acorn of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in each final.
