MARK YOUR CALENDAR for this one … A ‘Stronger Together and the Arts’ cultural event, detailed below and sponsored by the Office of the Provost, and Marketing and Communications. Feel free to participate in any or all of the activities.

WHAT: Stronger Together and the Arts takes you on tours of the Wang Center, Staller Center and Zuccaire Gallery, followed by the opportunity to mix and mingle with coworkers and friends over fall- and Halloween-themed refreshments.

WHEN and WHERE: Wednesday, October 27

12:30 – 1:00 pm: Charles B. Wang Center tour, including current exhibits

1:00 – 1:30 pm: Staller Center for the Arts* backstage tour – A behind-the-scenes look of the Staller Center stage and theater

1:30 – 2:00 pm: Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery – Curator-led tour featuring paintings by Distinguished Professor of Art Howardena Pindell and the exhibition Dos Mundos: (Re)Constructing Narratives

2 – 3 pm: Enjoy refreshments with friends and coworkers in the Staller Center Lobby

Participate in any one or all of these activities. No need to RSVP; just show up!

*Reminder that Stony Brook University faculty and staff can get discounted tickets for upcoming performances at Staller this fall. Visit to redeem your $10 discounted ticket using the code STRONGER at checkout. (Offer is only valid on adult tickets and cannot be used on previous purchases or combined with other discounts.)

Food, Glorious Food

Check out dining, vending and shopping opportunities the Faculty Student Association is offering all around the campus this fall. Savor the smells and tastes of our ever-expanding food truck presence. And see what cultural, and often delicious, activities you can continue to partake in this Hispanic Heritage Month, including November 1st’s Closing Ceremony featuring a dinner of authentic Latin cuisines, keynote speaker, awards and scholarships recognition, and a gift basket raffle. Money raised for the dinner and raffle will go toward scholarships for Stony Brook students.

Meet Your Ombuds

Are you aware of the support our Ombuds Office offers? Did you know Ombuds Day is TOMORROW (Thursday, October 14)? Do you realize there are many opportunities to find out more about Ombuds resources and support, and meet the Ombuds? Click here for more information on Stony Brook’s Ombuds Office and how to take advantage of the many benefits it offers students, faculty and staff as we all work together to build and maintain a safe, respectful and civil community.
