Anant Yardi, founder and CEO of Yardi Systems, will deliver the keynote address at the Stony Brook University College of Business 2025 Convocation ceremony on May 21.
The event will celebrate the achievements of graduating students and feature insights from one of the most influential leaders in real estate technology.
Yardi, a trailblazer in the field of property management software, has led Yardi Systems for more than four decades, transforming it into a global force in real estate investment, asset and property management solutions. His keynote is expected to explore themes such as innovation, leadership, entrepreneurship and giving back — values that have defined his career and resonate deeply with the College of Business community.
“We are honored to have Anant Yardi as our Convocation speaker,” said Haresh Gurnani, dean of the College of Business. “His visionary leadership and entrepreneurial journey serve as powerful inspiration for our graduates. Anant’s story underscores the importance of perseverance, strategic thinking, and technological innovation — traits we strive to instill in our students.”
Founded in 1984, Yardi Systems has expanded globally with offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia, including a strong presence in Melville, Long Island. The company is known not only for its industry-leading software but also for its unwavering commitment to corporate responsibility.
In line with this commitment, Yardi Systems launched a series of scholarship programs starting in 2023 to support first-generation college students. The initiative, which includes Stony Brook University among its 28 partner institutions across North America, reflects the company’s motto: “Take care of our clients, take care of our employees, take care of our communities, stay focused and grow.”
The program is designed to ease the financial burden for students who are the first in their families to attend college, enabling them to focus on their academic and professional goals.
“This scholarship reflects our belief in the transformative power of education,” said Yardi. “Supporting students who are paving a new path for their families aligns with our mission and values as a company.”
Yardi himself holds a master’s degree in engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor of technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Throughout his career, he has earned numerous honors, including the Realcomm “Digie” Award and induction into the Multi-Housing News Hall of Fame, recognizing his influence and contributions to the industry.
In a statement ahead of the Convocation, Yardi shared his excitement: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to address the Class of 2025 at the Stony Brook College of Business. I look forward to sharing insights from my journey through a period of rapid technological change and business evolution.”
The 2025 Convocation promises to be a landmark occasion, celebrating student success and featuring the reflections of a leader who continues to shape the future of business and technology.
