The Stony Brook University Science Playwriting Competition brings the sciences and humanities closer together, providing an outlet for scientists and playwrights to venture beyond their normal modes of thinking, spark their imaginations and create new experiences. Rooted in artistic expression, the best science plays can be exceptional works of art that convey scientific concepts aesthetically, potentially leading to further explorations in both disciplines.
The following staged readings of this year’s winning plays will take place on Wednesday, April 15, presented by the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics (SCGP) and the C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics:
First Place: Much Ado About Something by Jacqueline Sema Salit
Second Place: The Force of Attraction by Ron Davies
Third Place: Amygdala, or The Rabbit by Mathew Green
Directed by Steve Marsh, the readings will be in the Simons Center’s Della Pietra Auditorium, Room 103, at 5:30 pm, with a reception beginning at 5 pm in the Simons Center Lobby. It is free and open to the public.
The event will also be live-streamed at scgp.stonybrook.edu/live and available for viewing the next day on the SCGP video portal.
