Stony Brook University has received five 2019 Accolades Awards, including a prestigious Gold Award, honoring achievements in the areas of communications, alumni relations, and philanthropy.
The Accolades Awards are granted annually by CASE District II, the leading regional organization of advancement and communications professionals covering the Eastern seaboard, the northeast US and parts of Canada.
Stony Brook’s Office of Advancement received a Gold Award, the highest distinction granted by CASE District II, in the Social Media category. Advancement was honored for “Leveraging Digital Ads to Enhance Annual Giving, Event Attendance, and Stewardship.”

Other awards granted to SBU included a Silver Award for Websites:Publications/News (“Stony Brook University Digital Magazine Winter 2018”; a Bronze Award for Best Articles of the Year (“Leading the Way to Social Mobility”); a Bronze Award for Individual Special Public Relations Projects (“Tick-Borne Diseases Epidemic: The Stony Brook Medicine Experience”); and an Honorable Mention for Annual or Institutional Reports: Digital (“Stony Brook University Alumni Association 2016-2017 Annual Report”).
Stony Brook’s strong showing reflected close collaboration among key divisions, including Marcomm, Advancement, Alumni and Medicine.
In 2017, Stony Brook set a school record by winning 10 Accolades awards.
