Once again, it’s time to get ready for the flu season. That means making sure you and your loved ones have been vaccinated.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older should get their yearly flu vaccine. There are documented benefits from flu vaccination, including reductions in illnesses, related doctors’ visits and missed work or school.

Even an imperfect vaccination can contribute to fewer hospitalizations and deaths from influenza. For more information, see Stony Brook Medicine’s Influenza Information site.
