The Jazz Loft @ Southampton Concert Series will conclude its popular spring/summer season with the performance of “Abstract Angularity” on August 28 at the Avram Theater at Stony Brook Southampton.
The concert features The Jazz Loft Jazz Orchestra, an 18-piece ensemble under the direction of Thomas Manuel — founder of The Jazz Loft and Stony Brook University Jazz Department Endowed Artist in Residence Fellow — and will celebrate the jazz orchestra in all its grandeur. The voice of the jazz orchestra speaks of the characteristics which it embodies: patience, honesty, playfulness, emotion, courage and will.

The concert series, which enjoyed a tremendously successful first season at The Avram, brings the rich traditions and innovative spirit of jazz to the Southampton and East End communities. The series is part of an ongoing effort to revitalize the Stony Brook Southampton campus as a hub for the arts, community and education.
The theme of each performance looked at jazz both historically and contemporarily, incorporating extraordinary entertainment and education. The Jazz Loft’s mission is one of jazz preservation, education and performance, and this partnership with Stony Brook Southampton provides East End residents with the opportunity to experience and learn about great jazz first-hand.
