State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor John B. King, Jr. visited Stony Brook University on August 24 to meet with students as they returned to campus for the fall semester.
Joined by Stony Brook University President Maurie McInnis, King visited Lauterbur Hall and met with new students who were checking in. He also visited the LGBTQ* Center and viewed the new mural painted on the side of West Side Dining. He also stopped by Peet’s Coffee, where he spoke with resident assistants and other Campus Residences staff.
“It was a pleasure to spend the morning meeting some of the brilliant RAs at @stonybrooku and hear about the passion they feel for the institution and their dedication to their peers,” King said in a social media post after his visit. He added in another post, “Students, staff, and faculty are focused on one thing: creating a sense of belonging. Students have continued to say that building community is a hallmark of their experience at Stony Brook!”
