The annual Student Employee, Intern and Community Service Awards Ceremony, organized by the Stony Brook University Career Center during National Student Employment Week, was held in the Student Activities Center on April 12 to celebrate and honor supervisors and students who work on campus, intern and serve their communities.
Assistant Vice President for Career Development and Experiential Education Marianna Savoca and Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students Ric McClendon delivered the opening remarks.
“When we think about some of the reasons that student employment is so important, we think about growth and development,” Savoca said. “We think about students who are willing to take a risk, get out of their comfort zone, try something new, learn a new skill, develop a new career readiness, competency, and add value to the work that’s done on campus. So not only are students developing themselves, but also contributing to the life of the campus in the work of every department on campus.”
