Patient Appreciation Week (February 1–7) is a special time of year dedicated to recognizing and showing gratitude to Seawolves who have utilized healthcare services. This week-long celebration is an opportunity for healthcare professionals to reflect on the level of care they provide and find ways to improve it. It is also an opportunity to recognize the vital role that patients play in the healthcare process and to thank them for their trust and confidence.
During Patient Appreciation Week, Student Health Services and Counseling and Psychological Services took a moment to show their appreciation for patients by providing small giveaways, such as drawstring bags with heartfelt thank you messages, throughout the week. In addition, the lobbies of both areas were decorated to enhance the experience when students walked in for physical or mental health care. Such gestures can go a long way in creating a warm and welcoming environment for patients and building trust between healthcare providers and patients.
“This is the first year that we have held this celebration to thank our students for being our patients. Our providers have a significant impact on the lives of our students, their families, and the campus community.” said Marisa Bisiani, associate vice president for Student Health, Wellness and Prevention Services. “This was an opportunity to demonstrate to our students that we appreciate the trust they have placed in us to provide mental and medical healthcare.”
Overall, Patient Appreciation Week is an important reminder of the importance of patient satisfaction in healthcare. It is a time for healthcare professionals to renew their commitment to providing high-quality care and to put patients at the center of everything they do. Through this celebration, healthcare providers can foster a culture of caring and compassion that can improve the healthcare experience for patients across the nation.
