Stony Brook Wins Association of Energy Engineers Award

SBU Leads Energy Management Industry in Efficiency, Resiliency, Sustainability and More

Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Medicine are recipients of the Association for Energy Engineers (AEE) Institutional Energy Management Award for 2022.

200507 academic mall 019Each year, the AEE recognizes individuals, organizations and projects that lead the energy management industry in efficiency, automation, data analytics, policy, supply, resiliency, sustainability and more. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Conference, taking place from September 21 through 23 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. During the event, energy professionals from across the globe unite to learn about the latest energy-saving strategies, services and technologies.

This prestigious award also falls on the heels of the announcement that SBU will receive the New York Power Authority (NYPA) ‘Outstanding Commitment to Energy Efficiency’ award this year, and reiterates the university’s commitment to a reduction in energy consumption through efficient energy practices.

The university is in the process of updating its existing energy Master Plans, which will identify new opportunities for energy efficiencies. Stony Brook has also recently invested in a Clean Energy Master Plan, with the intent to identify the viability of onsite renewables as well as study the feasibility of achieving a goal of 100 percent renewable energy.
