The University’s Third Annual ‘Giving Day’ Is April 21

Giving day 2021 - April 21 #SBUGivingDay

On April 21, Stony Brook University will host its third annual “Giving Day,” a 24-hour fundraising drive to generate support for students, faculty and research, and to help advance Stony Brook Medicine’s mission to provide the highest quality healthcare.

Giving dayIn 2020, a record number of alumni, faculty and staff, students, parents, grateful patients and friends helped Stony Brook surpass its Giving Day goal, donating over $300,000 to more than 90 initiatives across the University. This year, as Stony Brook continues to recover from the financial repercussions of the pandemic, the support generated by the event will be even more essential.

“This past year has challenged us in so many ways, but we have emerged even stronger than before,” said Stony Brook University President Maurie McInnis. “Now, as we begin to come out of this crisis and hope for brighter days ahead, we need to do everything we can to support our students, faculty, staff and healthcare workers in preparing for the next chapter.”

To inspire participation, all gifts made on April 21 will be tracked in real-time on Stony Brook’s Giving Day website.

“Stony Brook is incredibly fortunate to have such an engaged and supportive community,” said Deborah Lowen-Klein, interim vice president for advancement. “As last year’s Giving Day showed us, thousands of donors from our community can have a tremendous collective impact on the University. I’m looking forward to seeing what we’re going to accomplish together on April 21.”
