Stony Brook University ranked #34 on the list curated by Forage, a leading job simulation platform, that highlights the top colleges delivering students with outstanding experiential learning opportunities.
This list recognizes the top 50 four-year institutions in the country across public, private and liberal arts colleges that have excelled in driving student engagement, early participation and faculty involvement in experiential learning. Forage independently analyzed the experiential learning offerings at more than 800 universities.
“Our Career Center excels at creating a wide array of experiential learning opportunities for our students that promote interdisciplinary learning, career development, leadership skills and many other valuable transferable skills that will help our students be successful in the job market” said Rick Gatteau, vice president for Student Affairs.
Stony Brook was identified as the #34 university for experiential learning as a result of its focus on developing campus-wide initiatives to infuse experiential learning outcomes, including interpersonal, professional and collaborative skills, into every student’s experience. The university recommends that students fulfill the Stony Brook Curriculum Experiential Learning (EXP+) learning outcomes.
“Stony Brook University is committed to student career readiness through experiential learning at both graduate and undergraduate levels. It’s a team effort — Career Center, faculty in every school and college, academic and student affairs administrators,” said Marianna Savoca, assistant vice president for Career Development and Experiential Education. “We all strive to create more high-impact experiences inside and outside the classroom that give students the support they need while they develop career readiness competencies and build connections.”
