The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Ranking is a ranking of universities and colleges designed to emphasize graduate success and student learning.
Developed in partnership with US experts and universities, the ranking adopts a balanced scorecard approach, using 15 individual performance metrics, grouped into four pillars representing Resources (30%), Engagement (20%), Outcomes (40%) and Environment (10%). The 15 performance indicators were selected in order to answer the questions that matter the most to prospective students when choosing a university.
Data sources include the Times Higher Education (THE) U.S. Student Survey and the THE Academic Reputation Survey, along with public data from IPEDS, the College Scorecard and Federal Student Aid on areas including completion rates and graduate employment. The THE Student Survey polled 170,00 current students on their college experience, focusing on motivation, engagement with learning, career impact, and satisfaction and value.
The full methodology can be found on the THE’s website.
