Inauguration Week for President Andrea Goldsmith crossed the finish line in a fun way with the second annual Seawolf Shuffle 5K Run/Walk, held April 19 on the Stony Brook University campus.

The event featured a 5K and a kids fun run open free of charge to all faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members. Hosted by Heathier U, the run celebrated community, wellness and the spirit of Stony Brook University.

President Goldsmith joined more than 500 participants in the 5K, an impressive turnout that reflected the spirit of Inauguration Week.

“It was an honor for Healthier U to host the second annual Seawolf Shuffle in honor of President Goldsmith’s inauguration,” said Healthier U Director Cathrine Duffy. “To have her there as a participant was amazing.”

Members of the Seawolves Resource Groups participated in the run as volunteers and run/walkers, and the Stony Brook women’s swimming and diving team volunteered for the second year, checking in each participant and cheering along the route.

Awards were given to the first runner in the men’s and women’s categories, and the event added a nonbinary division this year at the recommendation of community members. Medals were given to the first 300 finishers, with prizes awarded to all youth participants.

A post-race reception took place in the Stony Brook Union.
