SBUH Blood Bank Urgently Needs Blood, Especially Type O

Blood drive sbuCollecting blood in the summer is like trying to reach a live customer service representative; it requires a lot of effort.

The Stony Brook University Hospital Blood Bank is putting out an urgent call for blood, especially type O.

Just 45 minutes of your time is a lifetime for someone else.

Please schedule an appointment to donate today. 100 percent of all blood donated in the Donor Center stays in the hospital. The Blood Bank is located in Stony Brook University Hospital in the Main Lobby area on the 5th floor, Suite 5000.

Hours are Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are encouraged. On weekends, holidays, before 8 a.m. and after 4 p.m. on weekdays, please call (631) 444-2634 as the hours may vary.

NOTE: In honor of National Ice Cream Month, on Tuesday, July 26, the Blood Bank Donor Center will host a table near the cafeteria. Please stop by, enjoy an ice cream treat and learn how you can help support our Hospital Blood Bank.

Whole blood donors – Coleman 1-gallon insulated beverage cooler
Whole blood donors – Coupon for a pint of Baskin/Robbins Ice Cream
Platelet donors – Fleece field blanket
