SBU to Host Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 9

Veterans day ceremonyTo honor our veterans, Stony Brook University will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Wednesday, November 9, at 1 pm at the Sidney Gelber Auditorium in the Student Activities Center. A reception will follow the ceremony.

Chloe Mack ’23 will be the student speaker. She is a U.S. Army veteran and computer science major, and also serves as president of the Veteran Student Organization.

Joan Furey ’72 will be the keynote speaker. Earlier this year, Furey — who served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, earning a Bronze Star — was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Stony Brook University School of Nursing at its 50th anniversary gala.

President Maurie McInnnis will provide the welcoming remarks. The Spirit of Stony Brook Marching Band and the ROTC will both participate in the ceremony. Daniel Jones, a graduate student from the Department of Music, will perform Taps.
