SBU Giving Day March 29 Challenges Us to #HoldDoorsOpen

Sbu giving day 23

Sbu giving day 23Stony Brook University will host its fifth annual Giving Day on Wednesday, March 29, inviting the entire Stony Brook community to come together in a 24-hour fundraiser and support a wide variety of initiatives and programs.

This year’s theme is #HoldDoorsOpen, challenging us to open doors for Seawolves everywhere. Gifts will benefit students, faculty, academic programs and initiatives across campus.

“The acts of kindness and generosity that we see on Giving Day epitomize what it means to be a member of the Stony Brook University community,” said Justin Fincher, vice president of advancement and executive director of the Stony Brook Foundation.

“Within 24 hours last year, our students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends helped one another in countless meaningful ways. I am looking forward to seeing the tremendous impact our community will have again this year.”

Nearly 3,000 Stony Brook University community members made a significant and lasting impact on more than 100 programs in 2022, contributing 3,536 gifts totaling more than $369,000 to university and Stony Brook Medicine programs. The support generated on this year’s Giving Day will open doors for leading problem solvers, healthcare heroes, entrepreneurs and forward thinkers.

This year’s Giving Day also includes a new social media sharing tool called Stony Brook Social Seawolves. When you sign up to become a “Social Seawolf,” you can easily share Stony Brook’s social media content and will be enrolled in a sweepstakes to win Stony Brook swag. The more you share, the greater your chances of winning.

Follow along throughout the day on Stony Brook’s Giving Day website, where all gifts made will be tracked in real-time, or check out Giving Day on social by searching #SBUGivingDay and #HoldDoorsOpen.
