An additional $100,000 in increased funding is allotted to clubs and organizations
With mental, emotional and physical health continuing to be a priority for its students, Stony Brook University has expanded its Campus Life Time. What used to take place every Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:50 pm will now also happen on Mondays during the same time period.
A weekly tradition dating back to 1991, Campus Life Time is full of activities, such as carnivals, concerts, student expo fairs, live entertainment, celebrity speakers, free food and giveaways. It allows students to socialize with friends, something that many post-pandemic college students take seriously. It also helps Stony Brook’s commuter students get involved in the campus community without having to make an additional time commitment to an already long day.
“We are happy to be able to expand Campus Life Time,” said Vice President for Student Affairs Rick Gatteau. “We find that this is a crucial time for students to make connections, get involved, learn new things, and feel a part of our campus community. It has become a very special tradition to us.”
In addition to the increase in Campus Life Time, Stony Brook University has allotted $100,000 in increased funding to clubs and organizations this year. This new funding is designed to encourage student-based clubs and organizations to host more events and programming on evenings and weekends.
“Getting involved on campus is an important part of your Stony Brook experience as it not only introduces you to new friends, but also helps you explore your interests, strengthen your resume, and build key leadership skills,” Gatteau added. And, with more than 400 clubs and organizations, there is truly something for everyone — even the cat lovers.
