At Citi Field on April 30, Stony Brook University was presented with the Most Donations – New York State Colleges and Universities Award from the New York Mets College Championship program. Created to raise awareness for the need to donate blood, Stony Brook was recognized for supporting West Campus blood drives resulting in the collection of more than 1,600 blood donations.

Stony Brook University was invited to center field to receive a banner acknowledging our University and our campus community of care as the #1 Blood Center donation site among colleges and universities,” said Program Coordinator Kathleen Valerio, a health educator at Stony Brook. The banner, along with New York Blood Center Diamond Award, will be displayed at the Walter J. Hawrys Campus Recreation and Wellness Center on campus.
