Recent Campus Beautification Committee Projects Officially Commemorated

Cbc plaques 3
Cbc plaques group record
Shown at the plaque installation of ‘For the Record’ artwork in the Central Reading Room of the Melville Library are (l-r): Melville Libraries’ Kenneth Schaal (Head of Library Operations, Access & User Services) and Jennifer DeVito (Associate Librarian/Director of Access & User Services), student artist Anika Griffing, Campus Beautification Committee members David Ecker, Ellen Cooke, Christine Griffiths, and Wang Center’s Asian Art and Culture Program Coordinator Eric Murphy (also an ART Tank judge).

Making it ‘official,’ Campus Beautification Committee (CBC) members installed plaques at two recent major CBC artwork installations, commemorating the student creations and the lasting legacy they leave at Stony Brook University.

Coincidentally, both were in libraries — one in the Melville Library Central Reading Room (where student artist Anika Griffing ‘24 came to be honored), the other at the Health Sciences Library on East Campus. Both were attended by library personnel and other employees instrumental in making these projects happen. All were happy to pose for a quick photo, and especially thrilled about having these works of art to prominently display and share with patrons and visitors from on and off campus.
