New dates have been announced for Responding to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (R.E.D.I.) seminars offered to the Stony Brook University community.
The REDI Project, an extension of the the Plan for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, provides the opportunity for administrators, faculty and staff to attend a six-hour diversity seminar, geared toward increasing the understanding and celebration of the cultures that contribute to our diverse campus community.
The nature of the seminar provides a safe space for the timely and sometimes sensitive, yet necessary discussions related to the diversity issues of concern to the campus community.
Seminars are conducted over a six-hour period (with one hour for lunch) and are held in the Wang Center, Room 201.
Attendance is capped at no more than 20 participants in order to create an intimate environment which is more conducive to critical and constructive discussion. Our aim is to provide an atmosphere that is perceived to be is safe for all participants to engage in such discussion. To that end, it is suggested that members of the same department or program attempt to attend the seminars on different dates. Registration is required and can be accessed by going to the SBU diversity web site and clicking on the R.E.D.I. tab.
