Presidential Lecture with Journalist Linda Villarosa April 25

Stony Brook University President Maurie McInnis will host author and journalist Linda Villarosa at the next Presidential Lecture on Thursday, April 25, at 5 pm at the Charles B. Wang Center Theater.

Villarosa is a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine and former executive editor of Essence magazine. She is the author of the landmark Under the Skin: The Hidden Toll of Racism on American Lives and on the Health of Our Nation — one of the top 10 books of 2022 by The New York Times and a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

A member of the Association of LGBTQ+Journalists Hall of Fame, Villarosa has been recognized with numerous awards from organizations, including the American Medical Writers Association, the New York Association of Black Journalists and the National Women’s Political Caucus.

Guided by your questions, Villarosa will explore the topics of race, inequality and health in her book Under the Skin.

A Q&A, book signing and reception will follow the lecture.
