Nearly 60 members of the Three Village Chamber of Commerce gathered to hear President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., MD, speak at their monthly networking meeting, held at the Old Field Club on November 19. President Stanley, who had also been a featured guest speaker for the Chamber five years ago when he first arrived on campus, spoke to the crowd of local business owners about how far the University has come in such short time and shared his vision for the next phase of campus growth.

“President Stanley’s talk with the Three Village Chamber is a good example of how the community and the University are supportive of each other,” said Three Village Chamber of Commerce President Andrew N. Polan. “There is more engagement now with departments who are Chamber members – they actively look for opportunities to bring businesses to the University community.”

President Stanley spoke on a wide range of topics, including the University’s rise in college rankings, Stony Brook University’s impact on the local economy, and the cutting-edge research being done at the campus.
