Stony Brook University President Maurie McInnis welcomed the Seawolves community back to campus for the start of the Spring 2022 semester on Monday, Jan. 24.
“Sometimes, even after all that’s happened and how hard we’ve collectively worked to get where we are today (safely in-person with renewed ambition, powerful partnerships across the state, and dynamic scholarship around every campus corner), I still have a hard time believing we’re well into the new year,” McInnis said.
The president identified recent successes such as Stony Brook being selected as a finalist in the competition to be the anchor institution for the Governors Island Center for Climate Solutions, and Governor Kathy Hochul proposing that Stony Brook be named one of two flagship institutions in the SUNY system. She also pointed to things to look forward to on campus in the coming weeks, in the arts, academics and athletics, and more.
