Render aerialStony Brook University President Maurie McInnis and Associate Professor Kevin Reed of the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) recently appeared on the PBS program Peril and Promise: The Challenge of Climate Change to talk about The New York Climate Exchange.

Peril and Promise is a multi-platform public media initiative produced by The WNET Group, and is featured on MetroFocus, a news magazine program focusing on the New York City region. Major areas of MetroFocus coverage include sustainability, education, science and technology, and the environment.

Stony Brook University was selected in April to serve as the anchor institution for the development of a world-leading climate solutions center on Governors Island in New York City. The Exchange will be a first-of-its kind international center for developing and deploying dynamic solutions to our global climate crisis, while also acting as a hub for New Yorkers to benefit from the rapidly evolving green economy.

McInnis and Reed joined host Jack Ford to discuss Stony Brook’s winning bid and the future of The Exchange, a $700 million campus which will be located on Governors Island.
