Office of Procurement Hosts Successful Travel Forum

Travel forum feature

The Stony Brook Travel and Card Programs Office, part of the University’s Office of Procurement, recently hosted a Travel Forum for faculty and staff members looking to learn more about these programs. The two hour, in-person event at the Wang Center was attended by more than 100 faculty and staff members from the University and Hospital.

Travel forumDuring the first hour of the forum, participants were given a presentation that included information on the past, present and future of the travel and card programs at Stony Brook, as well as an overview on the providers currently used for these services (Concur and Direct Travel). The second hour was dedicated to a drop-in Q&A session, where experts were available to answer questions on these topics. An expert panel, including Carmen Gonzalez, Christine Wilson and Gerardina Paduano from Procurement as well as Sheila Routh from the Offices of Sponsored Programs and Grants Management helped audience members with their individual questions and inquiries.

“We owe an enormous thank you to everyone who attended the Travel Forum on May 24 as well as the team that helped put this event together,” stated Gerardina Paduano, assistant director of Travel and Card Programs at Stony Brook University. “Being able to present program information to the larger group, while also providing an avenue for faculty and staff members to ask their individual questions and receive 1:1 service from our team, was exactly what we were hoping to achieve with this event.”

The Office of Procurement is planning to host more events like this (Lunch and Learns, Concur Lab Sessions, Forums, etc.) at the University and Hospital locations over the upcoming fiscal year.
