In commemoration and honor of Black History Month, the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, within the Office of Administration & Finance, will celebrate several achievements by African Americans and recognize their central role in the history, development and growth of the United States.
The committee, through a series of email campaigns to the campus community, will highlight a weekly “Spotlight” based on a critical current event that is of great impact and importance to African Americans specifically, but should be significant to us all. In a weekly newsletter series, the group will also honor several “Unsung Heroes” who have played a pivotal role in history or the way we live our lives today, although their names and corresponding accomplishments are unknown to most.
“We hope that these weekly features will provide an opportunity to not only educate the campus community, but more importantly, increase allyship and true inclusivity within our ranks,” stated Titilayo Fagbenle, spokesperson for the committee.
