“Our goal is to always provide the best service to our students and improve affordability of textbook and course materials. Follett will expand these opportunities, so students can save money with a textbook rental program in addition to a large selection of ebooks and other digital learning technologies,” said Nadeem Siddiqui, Executive Director for the Faculty Student Association.

Amazon, the bookstore’s current provider, recently changed their business model and will no longer be providing course material services to higher education institutions. To ensure continuity during the transition period, students were still able to order new, used, rental and digital textbooks and other course materials through Amazon for the Spring 2018 semester.

The Amazon@StonyBrook pick-up location will remain open in the lower level of the Melville Library, allowing students, faculty and staff to continue to take advantage of the convenient services Amazon offers.

Students will be able to order their summer and fall course materials through Follett’s online portal. “They will be able to quickly search, browse and shop for all their campus essentials whether they’re on a computer, tablet or phone and conveniently choose in-store pickup if needed,” said Clay Wahl, president of Follett Higher Education.

Beginning March 19, Follett is operating Shop Red West in the lower level of the Melville Library, Shop Red East on Level 2, Room 310 of Health Sciences, and the Seawolves MarketPlace in the Student Activities Center. This space will undergo an exciting renovation over the summer to open as a new coffee shop next fall. Stay tuned for more details!

“We’re excited to partner with Stony Brook University to serve their students, parents, alumni, fans, faculty and staff,” said Wahl. “Follett’s main focus is to provide cost-effective course material options while enhancing the Stony Brook University campus experience and driving student success. Customers can expect our campus and online stores to deliver great products and celebrate the unique spirit of the campus.”

The Bookstore Liaison’s office, located within the FSA suite at East Side Dining is available to assist faculty and students throughout the transition and can be contacted at Bookstore_Liaison@stonybrook.edu or (631) 632-9828.
