Can you say three-peat?

It’s that time of year again, as Seawolves near and far will cast their ballots and vote for their favorite mascot, Wolfie, in the annual SUNY Mascot Madness tournament.

Wolfie is the two-time defending champion of the event, now in its 11th year, that brings SUNY mascots together in a competition to find out who the fans feel is the best in all of New York State.

Similar to the annual NCAA March Madness basketball tournament, Mascot Madness is broken down into five rounds.

This year’s tournament will begin Tuesday, March 12, when Wolfie takes on Big Blue from Alfred State. The voting schedule is as follows:

  • Round 1 = March 12 (12 pm) – March 15 (3 pm)
  • Round 2 = March 19 (12 pm) – March 21 (3 pm)
  • Round 3 = March 22 (12 pm) – March 26 (3 pm)
  • Semifinals/Final Four = March 27 (12 pm) – March 29 (3 pm)
  • Finals = April 2 (12 pm) – April 4 (3 pm)

Wolfie won each of the last two Mascot Madness titles by defeating Oakie the Acorn of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in the finals. Last year was a tight race — Wolfie won by just 33 votes, with 50.04 percent of the vote to Oakie’s 49.96 percent — a margin of just four-hundredths of a point. So every vote counts!

Follow all the action and show your support for Wolfie using #wolfie and #MascotMadness on social media. Fans can go to the SUNY Mascot Madness website to vote during each round.
