Fair Trade Winds Opens in SB Village

Fairtradewinds

FairTradeWIndsFair Trade Winds, a family-owned retailer of handmade, Fair Trade products and gifts, has opened its third store in the Stony Brook Village Center. The shop offers consumers unique gifts with purpose: handcrafted and unique products created by a diverse group of artisians from around the world.

A significant percentage of consumer purchases goes directly back to those very farmers and craftspeople who created it. By selling directly to buyers in North America, producers in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and other developing countries receive a reasonable living wage for their goods instead of a low, undeserving price. The other two Fair Trade Wind locations are in Fairfax, Virginia, and Bar Harbor, Maine; they are all members of Green America and the Fair Trade Federation.

The Stony Brook store will offer a vast range of products including housewares, accessories, pottery, vases, purses, coffee, cheeses, and eco-friendly products. It is located at 131 Main Street and open daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (phone: 631-689-2989).

Don’t miss the 20th annual Halloween Festival on Sunday, October 31, at 2:00 pm. Enjoy trick or treating in the Village shops, free mini pumpkins, games, Walkie Bear from WALK –FM, a costume parade with Monster Merlin, spotlight dance performance, and scarecrow competition.
