Diversity Tree Planted as Part of Earth Day Celebration

Vice President for Equity & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer Judith Brown-Clarke cuts the ribbon at the Diversity Tree planting ceremony.

Stony Brook University celebrated the diversity of its student body, while also making the world a greener place, by planting a Diversity Tree on April 21 in front of East Side Dining.

The tree planting event was titled “Diversity, Our Beauty Among The Branches,” an Earth Day tribute rooted in a celebration of inclusivity, equity and care for one another and our environment.

Vice President for Equity & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer Judith Brown-Clarke delivered remarks as the Keynote Speaker and officiant for the ceremony. There were also be remarks from Assistant Vice President for Procurement Carmen Gonzalez and Vice President for Student Affairs Rick Gatteau. The event was presented by the Office of Administration and Finance.

Complimentary refreshments were served by Island Soul, Roxy’s Ice Cream and Chatime Bubble Tea, with music by DJ Danja.
