CommUniversity Day Returns to SBU September 23

Communiversity17 2

CommUniversity Day is September 22, 2018.On Saturday, September 23, 2023, Stony Brook is again inviting the community, families, employees, students and alumni to experience CommUniversity Day, a signature event of the fall semester. This afternoon of exploration and engagement highlights the very best that Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Medicine have to offer. And we want you to join us by showing off what makes your area awesome!

CommUniversity Day, started in 2017,  features hands-on learning in themed “neighborhoods” such as Tech & Discovery, Safety, the Arts, Health and more. The leadership team is seeking employees and students to share their best academic, cultural, research, health, sports and entertainment offerings through fun, interactive activities. Everyone across the University — in any discipline — is welcome to participate.

“CommUniversity Day provides a platform for SBU departments to showcase their area of scholarship. We are proud to offer our campus and the community this glimpse into life at Stony Brook.” said Judith Greiman, Chief Deputy to the President and Senior Vice President for Government and Community Relations. Thousands of visitors from throughout Long Island have attended the event in the past. The CommUniversity Day celebration takes place down the Academic Mall from noon to 4 pm and is free and open to all ages.

New for 2023

In recent years, CommUniversity Day has featured a teddy Bear clinic, drowsy driving simulators, a kazoo concert and a free ice cream social.  For 2023, CommUniversity Day will have its first appliance autopsy tent, a community partners neighborhood, and special look at the plans for The New York Climate Exchange.

To secure a free table for your department, complete the Call For Participants form stating the details of the activity or proposed performance. For questions about CommUniversity Day, contact event director Joan Dickinson at Joan.Dickinson@stonybrook.edu.
