Stony Brook University celebrated the Class of 2025 with a special “Cap & Gown Brunch” on May 20 at the Student Activities Center’s Shore Club.
Dean of Students Ric McClendon got the celebration started by introducing Interim President Richard L. McCormick.
“As you get ready to wear your caps and gowns, spreading a sea of red across LaValle Stadium, I ask you to reflect back on your time here at Stony Brook,” said McCormick, who reminded the seniors of the connections they’ve made, the challenges they’ve met and the memories they’ve created.

“These are the times you will remember forever, Seawolves,” he said. “A toast to you and those who helped you along the way, and congratulations.”
The assembled graduates took photos, shared laughter and enjoyed refreshments, while the first 200 students received a Class of 2025 champagne flute.
The event was hosted by the Office of Student Life.
