Career Center’s Diversity Job and Internship Fair Is Coming Nov. 5 with Nearly 90 Employers

Career center job

The Career Center’s Diversity Job and Internship Fair will be held virtually from 12:30 pm to 4 pm on Friday, Nov. 5, with close to 90 employers, nearly double the turnout from the previous year.

The event, now in its 14th year, was traditionally held in person with about 25-30 employers, but with the switch to virtual — combined with the increased focus on diversity and inclusion among companies and organizations who value diversity —  participation has increased dramatically. All employers who attend must share that they have a diversity mission statement and ongoing diversity and inclusion efforts in the workplace and recruiting strategies.

The fair begins with the Diversity Recruitment Panel, from 12:30 pm to 2 pm. Companies including Stony Brook University Hospital, Henry Schein, Moody’s, Societe Generale, Amazon, and PSEG will speak about the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and how each of their companies create spaces for conversations around this topic. The panel is co-hosted by several student groups, including ColorStack, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Women in Computer Science (WiCS), C-STEP Club, Society for Women Engineers (SWE), Delta Sigma Pi, Latin American Student Organization (LASO) and Jubilé Latino.

That is followed by the Diversity Recruitment Job and Internship Fair, from 2 pm to 4 pm. Students can meet with recruiters from more than 80 companies looking to hire Stony Brook talent; each company attending the Diversity Recruitment Job and Internship Fair has demonstrated a commitment to diversity. Students can meet one-on-one or in group virtual sessions with companies like GEICO, Canon USA, Northwell Health, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Moody’s, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and many more.

Both events will be held virtually, and students must register for each event separately on Handshake.
