Since artificial intelligence (AI) is fundamental to understanding the future of medicine, the Stony Brook University Department of Biomedical Informatics is offering a day-long seminar on Tuesday, December 6, from 8:30 am to 5 pm at the Charles B. Wang Center for Stony Brook University and Hospital faculty, staff and students.
The seminar will explain:
- The basic technology behind AI
- The application of AI in healthcare
- The strengths and limitations of applying AI to healthcare
- The ethical issues around the development and use of AI in healthcare
Given the fundamental basis of medicine — first do no harm — understanding the strengths, weaknesses and pitfalls of artificial intelligence in healthcare is mission critical for all involved in patient care, public health, medical research and medical education.
Experts will discuss the recent and ongoing work in AI at Stony Brook across a wide variety of academic and professional disciplines.
