Basant Celebration Welcomes Spring to Stony Brook

Basant steps

Basant stepsThe Stony Brook University Pakistani Students Association celebrated the start of the spring season with “Basant 2021,” a traditional kite-flying festival held April 9 on the Staller steps.

Basant is a nationwide festival in Pakistan that welcomes spring. The most noteworthy aspect of Basant is kite flying, as whole neighborhoods come together to fly kites and celebrate unity. Participants were provided with state-of-the-art kites, and the festivities included music, food, games, and “lots of good vibes.”

The event was presented in collaboration with Undergraduate Student Government, and all COVID-19 guidelines and policies were observed.
