Stony Brook Southampton’s annual Lighting of the Windmill will take place Friday, December 2, from 5 to 7:30 pm, celebrating the holiday season.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at Chancellors Hall and include refreshments, music, an alumni-sponsored photo booth, guided windmill tours, crafts for children and other family activities.
The windmill has been standing at its current site on Shinnecock Hills since 1888, and is a cherished historical icon.
The festivities will also include a 7 p.m. lecture, “Wild Long Island,” presented by Chris Paparo, manager of the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) Marine Sciences Center. The talk, held in Duke Lecture Hall inside Chancellors Hall, will review the plethora of wildlife that inhabits the air, land, and sea of Long Island.
To RSVP to the event, email Laura.Lyons@stonybrook.edu. For accessibility-related accommodations, please call 631-632-6873.
Congratulations to all those who worked so hard to make this happen, especially the Campus Planning Design & Construction team. Well done!
