Annual Messiah Sing-Along at Staller Center, Dec. 10

In a seasonal tradition at Stony Brook, members of the University Orchestra, vocal soloists and conductors will perform Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, December 10, at 4 pm in the Recital Hall at Staller Center. At 3:45 pm, a short preconcert will be held, featuring the University Orchestra’s Brass and Percussion Ensemble, led by Kaleb Lewis, and a chamber orchestra performing music of Joseph de Bologne and Peter Warlock, which will be conducted by Shiqi Yang.

Admission is free.

Messiah sing along performance 19Choruses from Part One, Worthy is the Lamb/Amen and the Hallelujah Chorus will all be sung by the audience. Vocal scores will be available for purchase for $10 cash at the door. Solo vocalists will include undergraduate, graduate and DMA students Shuqi Yang, soprano; Wanmei Zhang, mezzo-soprano and soprano; Shu Li, mezzo-soprano; Timothy McGowan, tenor; Mikaeel Zohair, baritone; and Eunsung Lee, baritone.

Conductors include Delano Bell, Susan Deaver, Edona Mehmeti, Alicja Paruch and Dongke Tu. Fjord Deda is the solo trumpet for “the trumpet shall sound.”
