250 Donors Are Needed in Summer Blood Drive

Blood drive 02 26 1

Blood drive studentSummer is a season of connection, celebration and giving back. As America marks 250 years of community spirit, we’re reminded of how often our nation has shown up for neighbors in need.

That tradition continues with you.

Stony Brook University Hospital is partnering with the Long Island State Veterans Home by launching a special summer initiative to recruit 250 blood donors — ordinary people who choose to make an extraordinary difference. Every donation helps patients across the region, supports emergency care and strengthens the lifeline our community depends on.

When you donate, you’ll receive a Stony Brook–branded item as a thank you for stepping up.

Your kindness matters. Your donation matters. And together, we can honor America’s legacy of service, to include our veterans who have served our country, in the most meaningful way — by saving lives.

For whole blood and platelet appointments:

Convenient hours are available Monday through Saturday. Walk-ins are welcome.

As a reminder, state employees who donate blood during scheduled work hours may be granted up to a maximum of four hours of leave per year to donate blood.
