Twenty-one members of Stony Brook University’s faculty and staff have received the State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor’s Award for Excellence for the 2022-2023 academic year.
The award acknowledges the dedication and accomplishments of instructional faculty, librarians and professional staff across SUNY campuses and encourage the ongoing pursuit of excellence. These programs underscore SUNY’s commitment to sustaining intellectual vibrancy, advancing the boundaries of knowledge, providing the highest quality of instruction and serving the public good.
Recipients from Stony Brook received SUNY-wide recognition in six categories: Faculty Service, Librarianship, Professional Service, Classified Service, Scholarship and Creative Activities, and Teaching.
“Congratulations and my deepest gratitude for your outstanding service to Stony Brook and the State University of New York,” said Stony Brook University President Maurie McInnis in her congratulatory letter to this year’s winners, who will receive an award certificate and medallion at the annual University Awards event in the fall.
The award was developed by faculty for faculty, given to those who have demonstrated a record of sustained scholarship in the sciences, humanities, and professional studies, or consistent creative productivity in the fine and performing arts.
“Receiving this nomination underscores the respect and esteem of your colleagues, students, and campus leadership for your professional accomplishments,” said SUNY Chancellor John B. King. “Your dedication and continuing contributions to SUNY are a source of great pride and inspiration for us all.”
