The Stony Brook community is mourning the tragic loss of Seong Hoon Baek, who was killed Thursday night as a result of an automobile accident not far from campus.
Known to his friends as David, he was a senior, double-majoring in Economics and Biochemistry, and was well known and highly regarded by faculty, classmates, and friends in O’Neill College where he lived on campus.
A wake and viewing will be held Sunday, November 20, at 4:00 pm at Edward Jamie Funeral Home, 14126 Northern Blvd, Flushing NY.
A service in David’s honor, hosted by his friends and fellow students, took place on Saturday, November 19 in the Student Union Ballroom.
In a message to the community, President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D., urged students and staff to take extra precautions when driving, biking, and walking. “Every moment of every life is precious,” Stanley said.
