Stony Brook University students met with Assemblyman Steve Englebright in Albany on February 6 as part of SUNY Day 2012. The students discussed higher education policy with various lawmakers and thanked their Assembly and Senate representatives for passing the NY SUNY 2020 legislation last year.

Students spoke about the positive impact that the new law is having on the Stony Brook campus, specifically how the increase in faculty has helped them get the courses they need when they want to take them. They also thanked legislators for including additional financial aid opportunities in the bill to cover the tuition increase for TAP-eligible students and students from middle-income families.

During their visit the students also toured the New York State Capitol and visited the Senate and Assembly chambers while lawmakers were in session.
