
Stony Brook Ice Hockey is ranked as the #1 team in the country for the third time in the 2015-2016 ACHA Rankings. The Seawolves swept league rival Rhode Island (9-5, 7-3) to up its record to 22-2-0 and return to the #1 spot.
“This is a great accomplishment for the team and for the University,” said Head Coach Chris Garofalo. “I am really proud of the team, not only for all of the success we have had on the ice, but even more so with our work in the community and in the classroom. Our overall team GPA is a 3.1. We want to thank everyone for all the support, and we look forward to finishing the season strong and continuing to represent the University in a positive light.”
Stony Brook Ice Hockey plays at home vs. Lebanon Valley College on Saturday, February 6, at 8:30 pm and again on Sunday, February 7, at 3:30 pm. Then the team plays at home again vs. University of Central Oklahoma on Saturday, February 13, at 8:30 pm and Sunday, February 14, at 3:30 pm. Games are played at The Rinx in Hauppauge. The 2016 ACHA Men’s Division 1 National Championships will be hosted by Robert Morris University Illinois at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville March 3 through March 8.
