At the 2012 NEACURH (North East Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls) Regional Conference at SUNY Geneseo, Stony Brook University won the bid to host the 2013 NEACURH Regional Conference, which will be held November 15 to November 17, 2013, on Stony Brook’s campus and will feature the theme Back to the Future with Marty McMoose!

For the past seven months a team of students led by co-chairs Mariah Geritano and Meghan Paquette have been working extremely hard to put together a bid to host the conference. Required elements of the bid included information about lodging for delegates, the programs to be offered, entertainment, transportation, volunteer staff and budget.

On November 16 a group of students from the RHA (Resident Hall Association) and NRHH (National Residence Hall Honorary) — Michael Duffy, Tobin George, Mariah Geritano, Meghan Paquette, Samuel Rosner and Peter Sheh — went to SUNY Geneseo to present the bid to a group of delegates at the conference who vote on bids, awards and association legislation. This was followed by a 30-minute question and answer session. The SBU delegation was able to answer questions about NEACURH and Stony Brook University with clarity, passion and excitement. Their presentation was well received by the student delegates in attendance and the right to host the 2013 regional conference was awarded to SBU.

Not only did Stony Brook win the bid to host the 2013 NEACURH Regional Conference, but two delegates, Samuel Rosner and Peter Sheh, were awarded recognition as creators of a “Top 10 Program” for the recent University-wide program designed to elicit donors for the Bone Marrow Registry, which was an overwhelming success.
