Jesse Brizzi
Grad program: Computer Science
Undergrad: BS in Computer Science, University of South Florida
Hometown: St. Petersburg, FL
Advisor: Dimitris Samaras

How does it feel to earn an NSF GRF?
Honored, excited and relieved. This fellowship will open a lot of opportunities for me, and allow me to focus my research on my true interests.

What will you research and how might it benefit the world?
Computer Vision, Affective Computing and Machine Learning. I want to design computers that can see, and teach them to understand human faces and their expressive states.

What sparked your interest in your research, or science in general?
I’d really like to thank my professors and mentors back at the University of South Florida for giving me the opportunities during my undergrad to get involved with research and experience in a career that not many in my major consider. This would not have been possible without them.
