Stony Brook Matters

Payroll Deduction Drive Registers More Than 75 New Faculty and Staff Contributors

Gifts 1 1

The Stony Brook Foundation offered a match, and more than 75 members of Stony Brook University’s faculty and staff delivered the spark.

16319During the months of March and April, the University’s faculty and staff had the opportunity for their payroll deduction contributions to the University to be matched by the Stony Brook Foundation for the remainder of 2018 through a matching challenge.

The response was significant. When the challenge concluded on April 30, a total of 77 new donors had enrolled in payroll deduction, bringing the total number of employees donating through payroll deduction to more than 600 across the University. Incorporating the matching dollars, the new contributions are projected to total more than $190,000 in 2018.

“Stony Brook is privileged to have faculty and staff that believe in the University not only as an employer but as an institution,” said Dexter A. Bailey, senior vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the Stony Brook Foundation. “As executive director of the Stony Brook Foundation, it gives me great pride and pleasure to match these new payroll donation commitments.”

New payroll deduction donors are supporting more than 50 different areas of the University, with Stony Brook Children’s Hospital and the Milton Lodge Endowed Scholarship in Political Science leading the way with four new gifts each.

Through June 30, 2018, donations made by Stony Brook faculty and staff are included in The Campaign for Stony Brook, a $600 million fundraising effort and the largest in SUNY history. To date, more than 47,000 people have donated over $589 million. Make a gift today in support of your interests and help Stony Brook effect powerful change on Long Island and around the world. What are you passionate about? Give today.
