Bettina Fries Named President of Infectious Diseases Society



Bettina Fries, MD

Bettina Fries, MD, Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at Stony Brook University School of Medicine, has been named president of the Infectious Diseases Society of New York  (IDSNY).

As president, Dr. Fries will work with other leaders at IDSNY and infectious disease specialists across the state to inform public officials and respond to public health crises related to infection concerns. The IDSNY is also a resource of information on infectious diseases, and the society serves as a conduit between the NYC Department of Health and infectious disease specialists.

Dr. Fries, a nationally recognized physician-scientist in the field of microbiology, is also a Professor of Medicine, and Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at Stony Brook. Her term as the IDSNY President lasts two years.
