Stony Brook Southampton will celebrate the holiday season with the annual Windmill Lighting on Friday, December 9, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The Voices of Southampton High School will sing holiday classics as the exterior of the Windmill is lit.
Guests are then invited to a reception in Chancellors Hall. Enjoy hot cocoa, holiday treats, a caricaturist, balloon magic, and crafts for the children. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
Please RSVP to Laura.Lyons@stonybrook.edu. This event is sponsored by the Stony Brook Southampton Graduate Arts campus and the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS).
Following the Windmill Lighting, SoMAS will present its Fall 2011 Public Lecture Series with Tara Rider Zeiss, a lecturer in Stony Brook’s Sustainability Studies Program. Zeiss will discuss There She Blows: A Look at Long Island’s Whaling Heritage at 7:30 pm in Chancellors Hall.
