Freedom from obesity is attainable. The key to success is to choose the right combination of tools and support within an individualized clinical program directed by a leader in the field.
Stony Brook’s Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center develops treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs, lifestyle and goals. Options may include behavior modification, counseling, diet, exercise, group support, medical management and advanced bariatric surgery.
The center’s director, Aurora Pryor, MD, is a renowned surgeon, gastrointestinal endoscopy specialist, researcher and scholar. At Duke University, she co-directed bariatrics and was Chief of General Surgery and Bariatric Surgery at Durham Regional Medical Center. She brings a full range of surgical options to Stony Brook including gastric banding, gastric bypass and gastric sleeve.
Meet Dr. Pryor on Monday, February 13, at 5:00 pm on the Student Activities Center, and learn more about the impact of obesity in the United States, including causes, health risks and today’s treatment options.
